The online broker said its research showed just 58% of mortgage holders had life insurance while only 28% had critical illness cover. Meanwhile as few as 12% had income protection.

Trussle said it will offer customers a free protection review with a qualified adviser who would compare deals from a number of providers and recommend the right amount of cover for their needs.
