Principality Building Society has appointed Simon Moore to lead the board as non-executive chair-elect.

Moore will take over as chair from Sally Jones-Evans following the mutual’s annual meeting later this year. She has served as head of the business since 2021, and as a board member since 2015.

He is also chair of a number of other financial institutions, including LV=, PCF Bank and RCI Bank.

Moore began his financial services career at Lloyds Bank, leaving as an assistant manager in 1994.

The executive went on to work as a senior director for several lenders, including Chase Manhattan Bank, ABN Amro and Barclays. He began his working life as an Army officer in 1987, staying for just under five years.

Moore says: “Under Sally’s leadership, Principality is thriving, and I am looking forward to building on that legacy.

“Together with the dedicated board of directors and the whole team at Principality, we will continue to deliver value and service to our members.”

Jones-Evans adds that it was “a privilege to serve as chair for the past three years”.
