Today, Monday May 11, Palm Beach County will begin easing business restrictions and allowing responsible individual activity. The county commission voted this past Friday (tentatively) to open beaches on May 18. Gov. Ron DeSantis approved the county to enter Phase 1 of reopening starting today.

The state continues to encourage senior citizens and people with underlying medical issues to stay home.

Phase 1 does not include the opening of bars, pubs and nightclubs that derive at least 50% of their profits from alcohol.

But here is what is open, or soon to open, in Palm Beach County.

Restaurants

Starting Monday, May 11, restaurants can reopen sit-in dining, but with restrictions, such as indoor seating limited to 25% capacity and outdoor seating with six feet of space between tables.

Prior to Friday's announcement, only the kitchen portions of restaurants could remain open for take-out, delivery or drive-thru. Dining rooms were ordered closed.

Beaches

Starting Monday, May 18, public and private beaches will tentatively reopen to county residents only. Commissioners set a meeting for Friday, May 15 to make the final call.

All beaches would be allowed to reopen from sunrise to sunset. Palm Beach County beaches have been closed since March 20. For the full story, go here.

Broward and Miami-Dade county beaches remain closed.

St. Lucie County beaches are open. Martin County's beaches are open, but only to county residents.

Retail Stores

Can reopen Monday, May 11, but with recommendations, such as operating at 25% capacity.

Parks

Most county parks and natural areas are open across the county, except for community centers.

Trails at federally run Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, except for those near the beach, are open. Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing.

Parking lots in natural areas are open though "shoreline activities" are still banned.

Sports

Golfing in county-owned facilities, private and municipal courses are open but with restrictions recommended, such as more time between rounds to space out players.

Community pools and other recreational facilities at condos and homeowners associations can be open, but with some conditions, including capacity, seating, sanitation and on-site monitoring.

Tennis courts and racquet sports facilities are open, but with recommended restrictions.

Boating

Boat ramps and marinas across Palm Beach County are open. But the county has guidelines against anchoring at sandbars and tying vessels together.

Salons and Barbershops

Barbershops and hair and nail salons can reopen Monday, May 11, but with recommendations, such as capacity restrictions.

Food Shopping

Grocery stores, farmers' markets, food banks, convenience stores, liquor stores are open.

Health

Hospitals, doctors' and dentists' offices, pharmacies, urgent care centers, physical therapists; mental health professionals; labs; blood banks, home health agencies are open.

Elective surgeries were halted but are now allowed.

Other

Those considered critical remain open. Such as:

• Businesses that provide food, shelter, social services and other necessities for economically disadvantaged or needy people

• Food cultivation businesses, including fishing, livestock and farming

• Newspapers, television, radio and other media

• Gas stations, automobile dealerships, auto-supply and auto-repair shops

• Banks and financial institutions, including insurance firms and adjusters

• Hardware stores

• Contractors and other trades, appliance repair, exterminators, janitorial services, home security firms

• Postal services

• Private colleges, trade schools and technical colleges as needed to provide online or distance learning

• Laundromats, dry cleaners

• Office supply stores

• Businesses that supply other businesses

• Airlines, taxis, and other private transportation providers

• Assisted living facilities, nursing homes, adult day care centers, home-based care

• Law firms, accountants and other professionals, including architects, engineers and land surveyors

• Landscape and pool care services

• Childcare facilities, but the children should be in groups of 10 or less

• Businesses operating at airports, seaports or government facilities

• Warehouses, factories, bottling plants, trucking companies

• Telecommunications providers, including computer stores

• Hotels and motels if they are providing rooms to essential workers, domestic violence victims, displaced people or people using hotels as transitional housing. No new reservations from the public are permitted

• Veterinarians, pet stores and pet boarding facilities

• Mortuaries, funeral homes, and cemeteries

• Gun stores

• Any business employing five or few people who do not regularly interact with the public or can practice social distancing

• Electrical production and distribution services

• Waste management

• Moving and storage companies were deemed "critical" by Palm Beach County in its own emergency order.
