This past weekend, a huge truck pulled up to the New Macedonia Baptist Church filled with Easter joy for 500 families waiting for the spring surprise. One by one, volunteers from Waterfront Properties carried five hundred yellow, pink and blue baskets filled with toys and chocolate candies to the children waiting with excited smiles on their faces. Jupiter Realtor Rob Thomson wanted to share one of his fondest childhood memories with families who may be struggling this year, so he collected and donated the 500 Easter gifts.

“Many families are still struggling as we emerge from a dark time,” said Thomson. “I hope these bright cellophane-wrapped baskets bring a little happiness to the boys and girls as they explore the surprises inside and discover that they have not been forgotten on this holiday.“

Bishop Thomas Masters and The New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Riviera Beach prescreened the families and are handling the distribution. 

Bishop Masters has seen firsthand how Covid-19 has impacted the community, saying virtually every weekend he presides at funerals for victims of the disease. Bishop Masters reached out asking for 50 baskets but Rob Thomson wanted to do more.

The Bishop says his community appreciates the donation, “Many families have been hit hard by the Corona Virus and so any joy we can bring to the children means a lot. Knowing someone cares enough to share the holiday spirit also helps to inspire faith in the future as we begin a springtime recovery. “
