Financial services software business Iress has uncovered a security breach across its network, but adds that client data “has not been compromised”.
The Australian firm says it “detected and contained an unauthorised accessing” of its systems on third-party storage platform GitHub on Saturday.
“There is no evidence that client data has been compromised as a result of this issue. There is also no evidence that Iress’ production or client software has been compromised,” Iress says in a statement on the Australian stock exchange today.
Iress software handles mortgage payments, trading services and pension platforms for more than 10,000 businesses across Asia-Pacific, the US, Africa, the UK and the rest of Europe.
The firm adds: “Iress has now commenced a process of strengthening access and security protocols out of an abundance of caution.
“We do not anticipate any disruption to our business or our clients’ ability to use our software and systems.”
US software investor Bain said: “The mortgage market is becoming faster paced and more complex, increasing the need for more sophisticated software tools such as personalised pricing.
“These combined businesses will be well positioned to meet the demand for more advanced software. Customers will also benefit from a broader software suite that supports a wider range of financial products.”
