Halifax will significantly boost the number of prizes available in its mortgage prize draw in January. 

For this month the bank will pay off the mortgage of 10 winners in the draw. In addition Halifax will award 150 further mortgage customers a cash prize of £1,000.

Normally there is just one winner who has their mortgage paid off, and 100 cash prizes of £1,000.

The draw only covers those who have a Halifax mortgage, but this does include broker-arranged mortgages. To take part customers need to register online or via mobile banking.They also need to  have either a Halifax or Bank of Scotland current account, into which at least £1,500 must be paid in the month before the draw. 

The draw does not apply to mortgage holders whose property is let out to tenants, or those with mortgage arrears.
