Paul Munford, CEO of Century, has welcomed Axe as non-executive chairman and Golesworthy as group finance director, in a move that aims to enhance the direction of Century and project it into a new growth phase.

Axe has over 25 years’ experience in capital markets, private banking and asset management, having worked in Europe, the US, Asia and South Africa, including rebuilding merchant bank Panmure Gordon.

He is a former group CEO of various corporations, such as at LCH.Clearnet, and has also held various executive positions at Barclays. He led both the sell and a £300m regulatory capital raise for LCH.Clearnet in 2013.

Axe said: “I was impressed with management, distribution and dynamic team at Century and I am delighted to have been asked to assist in the guidance and strategy of the business.

“Century has made great progress and has a strong and well-balanced loan book specialising in prime property, I’m looking forward to help steering the business to further successes in the near future.”

Golesworthy’s role within Century Capital will be to assist in the opening of institutional funding lines, to strengthen the finance function as well as to support the growth strategy of the business.

Prior to Century, he worked in Boston for a large Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and took on various finance-related roles, where he managed over 3,000 employees at Iron Mountain.

Golesworthy worked as an international CFO within the North American and European business for over 11 years, has expertise in UK financial services and real estate, and has previously worked alongside Munford as the former finance director of MCIFA.

He said: “I can see great opportunity in this space to significantly grow the business and increase Century Capital’s transactional flow.

“Century has a fantastic reputation and the business model is well positioned to evolve.

“It has been great timing for Paul and I to work together again and I‘m looking forward to the challenges that this role will present.

Munford said: “This is an important time for Century Capital as we enter into a new stage of sustained growth.

“The formation of an institutional management team will bolster the existing team and build on the substantial success of Century in the bridging space to date.

“Both Ian and Simon bring with them a wealth of experience in the finance sector.

“Their network and experience will be invaluable to Century at this important phase of growth where we look to secure institutional funding lines and ramp up transaction flow.”
