Santander UK appoints Santodomingo as chief financial officer Mortgage Finance Gazette

Santander UK has appointed Angel Santodomingo as its chief financial officer, who joins the business next month, subject to regulatory approval.  

Santodomingo will report to the bank’s UK chief executive Mike Regnier.  

He is currently group head of strategy and chief of staff to the executive chair of Banco Santander Ana Botín.  

The veteran has held a variety of posts in the Santander Group over nearly 20 years and has worked in financial services for four decades.  

He joined Santander Group in 2005 as head of international developments and asset management. In 2014, was appointed chief financial officer and investor relations officer, at Santander S.A. in Brazil, before returning to Spain and his current role at the group’s head office this year.    

Santodomingo will also become executive director of Santander UK Group Holdings and Santander UK plc, subject to regulatory approval from 1 January.  

Santander UK’s Regnier says that Santodomingo “brings with him a huge amount of valuable experience from group, which will be of enormous benefit to us”.  

Santodomingo adds: “After 18 years working across different parts of the group, I am excited to be joining the UK business.   

“I look forward to working closely with the board and the management team and helping to shape the future of the bank.”
