Adopt A Sea Turtle This Winter

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach offers a unique program that allows the public to adopt a sea turtle from their sea turtle research and rehabilitation center. The adoption program helps benefit further research and continuous care for the injured, sick, and endangered sea turtles housed in Juno Beach.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help protect marine life and help to promote ocean conservation. If an injured sea turtle is found, the center rescues the sea turtle and brings it to their rehabilitation center for treatment and diagnosis before being released back into the ocean.

The beaches in our area are popular every March through October during the Sea Turtle Nesting Season. Along the 9.5 miles of sand, thousands of sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand making Juno Beach one of the most populated nesting areas in the world. The Center monitors the beach daily and provides care for sick and injured sea turtles through their research and rehabilitation center.

The Adoption Program offers sixes packages to choose from ranging in price from $40 dollars to $250 dollars. All Adoption Packages include a personalized adoption certificate, a photo of the sea turtle, and a Loggerhead Marinelife Center Newsletter subscription. Other gifts and items are available in the higher priced packages.

Through the adoption program, medication, food and tank maintenance, research, and hospital care will be provided to the sea turtles to help with their health, treatment, and nutrition. Once a turtle is adopted, the Center posts weekly updates of all the sea turtles currently present and can even track their progress.

The Adoption process can either be done by visiting the Loggerhead Marinelife Center or online. The Marinelife Center is open seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm and is located at 14200 US Highway 1 in Juno Beach.
