Coventry for intermediaries has a made a host of changes to its lending policy on a temporary basis.

It is now only accepting zero-hour contract applications from NHS bank nurses and locums as well as non-NHS bank nurses, care home workers, supermarket workers and delivery drivers, and retained or on-call firefighters and armed forces reservists.

Alongside this, new applicants and pre-offer applications received before 10 April will need to be asked if their finances have been affected by Covid-19, for the sake of new affordability rules.

Post-offer applications will go ahead as planned unless a change in finances has occurred, too.

Borrowers on furlough will be limited to borrowing up to 65 per cent LTV, with proof in the form of a letter from an employer required.

Bonus, overtime, commission and shift allowances will not be considered in the affordability calculation.

Additionally, owner-occupied remortgages, which includes extra borrowing, will be limited to 65 per cent LTV, and buy-to-let remortgages will only be accepted pound-for-pound, although exceptions may be made in the case of essential repair work being needed.
