Palm Beach County School District have been weighing all the options when it comes to going back to school and what it would look like in the fall.

Summer vacation just started but students are due back in the class on August 10th, but a lot of questions and concerns remain about what the schools and classrooms will look like amid the pandemic.

The school board met Wednesday, June 10th to begin discussing plans for the new 2020-2021 school year and they are weighing three possible scenarios.

Scenarios include:

  • Students resuming in-person instruction full time
  • Full-time distance learning
  • Hybrid Learning where students come in two days a week and continue distance learning three days a week

Details about wearing mask and social distancing policies have not been announced at this time and are still being discussed. If students return to the classroom, the school district is working on also going virtual for those students who don’t return because of health concerns.

Parents and guardians can help and give the school board their input by completing a survey that is on the district’s website until June 17th. To complete the survey, click here.

The school board is planning on reviewing the feedback from the survey at their July 1st meeting. The board is planning on making their final decision about the upcoming school year at their July 15th meeting.

In a press conference today, Governor DeSantis said that a “roadmap is in place to safety bring students back to Florida school campuses this fall”. The conference was held at 12 pm today, June 11th in Melbourne, Florida.
