Battlefield Park
Known, as one of the most significant Jupiter icons and historical sites is the Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park. Often referred to as the “gateway to the Loxahatchee River,” this park is must-visit site if you have not been and live in the area.
The history of Battlefield Park shows that there has been prehistoric and historic habitation here dating as far back as the Archaic Period over 5,000 years ago. The park stands to preserve this precious past and educate locals about Jupiter’s rich history.
Not only does the park boast an impressive story dating back thousands of years but it also provides the people of South Florida with a beautiful place to relax and kickback. Battlefield Park spans 680 acres and features covered picnic pavilions, miles of hiking trails, kayaking and more.

Jupiter Lighthouse Museum
The Jupiter Lighthouse Museum is offering a program called “Hike Through History.” This fun and the educational program allows guests to discover the topography and natural history of Jupiter’s national conservation land and historical sites.
You will hike 2 miles across the 120-acre Jupiter Lighthouse natural area that is full of beautiful landscape and wildlife. An educated guide will explain different species of animals and plants as well as the history and topography of the land. The hike begins at the flagpole beneath the lighthouse and ventures throughout the natural area. You will be able to overlook the serene Intracoastal Waters, hike up hills and through the wooded areas.

The Stuart Heritage Museum
The Stuart Heritage Museum is a charming building that encompasses the history of Stuart, Florida. The Stuart Heritage Inc. was founded in 1988 when the city purchased the historic Stuart Feed Store in downtown Stuart. The historic feed building was purchased with hopes to convert the building into a museum to showcase all of the histories the town has to offer. Through a lot of hard work and dedication, the Stuart Feed Store became the Stuart Heritage Museum. The museum is home to over 10,000 precious artifacts from the 1880s to the 1950s.
“The purpose of Stuart Heritage is to help preserve the heritage, artifacts, and history of Stuart and its surrounding communities. The countless relics housed by the museum define the history of the people, businesses, agriculture and community spirit of the City of Stuart and Martin County.”
The Stuart Heritage Museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is always free to the public. An educated and experienced staff of volunteers work at the museum to answer questions and explain all of displays and relics.
