UK new build house prices have jumped by 17.4% in the past year with Scotland and Wales proving to be the best places to have purchased this type of property, according to Warwick Estates.

The property management firm says in April the average new build house price was £336,058, or £58,641, more than a year ago.

New build performance has been strongest in Scotland where prices have increased by 22% to £291,259, followed by Wales where prices have lifted by 21.7%.

The sector has also performed well in the East Midlands, hitting 20.3%, South West, at 20.1% and East of England, at 17.9%.

The slowest regional market has been London where new build prices have risen by 8.8% to £567,526 from a year ago.

Taking a closer look at the performance of these types of property prices, the very best new build market performance has been reported in Ceredigion, West Wales, where prices have jumped by 34.2%, followed by Merthyr Tydfil, rising by 34%, the Scottish Borders, at 33.9% and Falkirk, at 33.6%.

The slowest-performing markets are in London, with Hounslow, rising by 5.5%, Waltham Forest, at 7.3% and Tower Hamlets, at 7.9%, reporting the smallest increases.
