The mutual says that Scholes, who joined the business in 2018, has an “understanding of lender and broker relationships, which will be key in her new position where she’ll be focusing on intermediaries”.

She will work alongside the existing team of senior business development manager Andrew Sadler, and business development manager Ian Stockley.

Scholes moves from her previous role of business development team leader. She first joined the building society in October 2018 as a business development representative.

Scholes has worked in the property industry for just over a decade, having previously held roles at an estate agency and has worked for three firms as a broker assistant.

Ipswich Building Society head of intermediary relations Charlotte Grimshaw says: “We’re delighted to see Carly move into the role of Business Development Manager. It’s a very well deserved promotion and she has continued to impress us with her knowledge and ongoing dedication to intermediaries.

“Maintaining our relationships with brokers continues to be a high priority for the society, and a fundamental part of our mortgage strategy going forward, so we’re extremely pleased to be able to provide intermediaries in the North West with a dedicated point of contact.”

In March, members of the mutual agreed to change its name to the Suffolk Building Society at its 170th annual meeting.

The business, founded in 1849, said the move would make it “more appealing across the county we call home”.

The rebrand is scheduled to take place during 2021.
