Visit The Jonathan Dickinson State Park This Summer

The Florida State Park is located five miles north of Jupiter in Martin County between Tequesta and Hobe Sound. Jonathan Dickinson State Park got is name after a Quaker merchant named Jonathan Dickinson who wreaked his boat off the coast in 1696.

The Park served as an army base and home to Camp Murphy during the second World War. Today, you can still see the barracks throughout the park. After the war, the property was transferred back to the state in 1947 to be used as a state park. The state park officially opened to the public in 1950.

Today, the Jonathan Dickinson State Park features a variety of natural habitats, river swamps, wildlife, hiking and biking trails, mangroves, guided tours, 16 natural communities, water activities, observations areas, and much more. The park is filled with many recreational activities and sits on 12,000 acres of land.

When visiting, kayak rentals, paddleboards, motorboats, bikes, canoes, and lockers are available to use and rent during your time in the park. Jonathan Dickinson State Park also has two fully working campgrounds and campground sites scattered throughout the park.

Florida State Parks follow the local order requiring facial masks or coverings for staff and visitors. The park is open to visitors with limited hours, capacity, and amenities. Boat tours, Equestrian tours, the restaurants, and the Visitors Center are currently closed.
