Palm Beach County announced the temporary bridge closure of the Donald Ross Road bridge. The Donald Ross Bascule Bridge crosses the Intracoastal Waterway at Mile Marker 1009.3 with high vertical clearance of thirty-five feet and ninety feet of horizontal space in the center span. The bridge has a restricted opening schedule, opening on the hour and half-hour. 

The bridge intersects Ellison Wilson Road and Donald Ross Road.  Have you ever wondered why those names? Fun fact...both Wilson and Ross were local men who would grow up and serve in the United States military. A memorial was dedicated to Donald Ross and Ellison Wilson, two of many World War II heroes. The actual memorial is located on the southeast corner of Donald Ross Road and Ellison Wilson Road intersection. Ellison was a gunner on a tank in the Third Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge. Wilson served honorably in the Army during World War II.  He lost his life defending this great country on December 28, 1944, near Belgium.

Donald Ross Road at Bascule Bridge (east of Port Circle) eastbound lanes will be closed from 9:00 pm – 5:00 am Wednesday, January 12, 2022. The westbound lanes will be closed from 9:00 pm - 5:00 am Thursday, January 13, 2022. Traffic will be detoured via Prosperity Farms Road, PGA Boulevard and Ellison Wilson Road.
