Have you been on the hunt for a new great steakhouse to try in Central Oregon? We recently had the opportunity to try one of the newest locations in Northwest Crossing, Rancher Butcher Chef. Featuring dishes that served family style and intended to share, this was a wonderful experience for a date night out.
We began our experience with some delightfully light and fluffy hushpuppies with a jalapeno honey butter. This dish came out quickly, and was a wonderful first flavor to start with. The hushpuppies had a nice crunchy exterior with a fluffy, delectable interior and the jalapeno honey butter was not spicy but featured the flavor of the jalapeno nicely.
We continued our culinary experience with a small order of scallops. These scallops were very well cooked and the pairing of the hazelnut romesco and fennel salad made this dish a nice, refreshing bite to have after the sweet hushpuppies. Needless to say, this plate was nearly licked clean with how amazing the romesco sauce was.
Our steak course was next on the list and we decided to share the 16oz Snake River Farms Ribeye. This steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was served for us to take the size portion we wanted and cut it on our own plate. However, the steak was so tender it hardly needed to be cut. We paired this steak with two sauces, a chimichurri and the RBC Steak Sauce. Each had wonderful flavor on their own, but we ended up mixing them on the plate on accident and that combo was a winner! We also loved out sides of Creamed Cabbage and Potatoes Bravas. The cabbage was the most comforting dish and reminded us of southern cooking and the potatoes bravas with a spiced tomato sauce and an aioli made these wonderful sides for our steak.
To finish off our meal, we had to try a glass of the chef's famous Limoncello. This beverage was like taking a trip to Italy. We found it to be a lovely after-dinner digestivo and highly recommend the over 21 patrons to Rancher Butcher Chef consider giving this delightful drink a try.
Overall, if you have not tried this restaurant yet, we recommend giving it a try! Located in the Grove in Northwest Crossing in the Westside of Bend, this is a spot to be remembered.
