Barclays UK has hired Roland McCormack as its head of mortgage intermediaries.

The newly-created role is a senior leadership position and McCormack will be responsible for leading Barclays’ intermediary channel strategy.

He will assume his position on 1 July and report directly to Lee Chiswell, head of mortgages, as part of a refreshed leadership structure designed to strengthen Barclays’ intermediary presence and market share.

McCormack brings over 30 years’ experience in the sector, most recently holding senior leadership roles at TSB Bank where, as mortgage distribution director, he built TSB’s intermediary proposition from the ground up.

Commenting on the appointment Chiswell said: “We’re delighted to welcome Roland whose appointment, along with our new team structure, reflects our ambition to offer a best-in-class, compliant, and competitive intermediary proposition.”
