Family Building Society has appointed Amar Mashru as business development manager for Central London.

Mashru has 20 years’ experience in the mortgage and banking sectors, including roles at Sainsbury’s Bank and Harrods Bank.

He was most recently at Furness Building Society where he was a BDM managing key accounts, also in Central London.

Mashru says: “I am excited by the Society’s plans to continue to grow and serve the needs of the mortgage broking community. I know the ‘patch’ well and have built good relationships with London brokers. I am keen to introduce them to the Family’s special approach to underserved borrowers, not only FTBs but also those coming up to and in retirement.”

Family Building Society head of intermediary sales Darren Deacon says: “Amar joins at a very exciting time for the society and we look forward to introducing many more Central London intermediary firms to our common sense and flexible approach to lending.”

In February, former head of intermediary sales Cammy Amaira returned to Family Building Society as head of strategy on its distribution team.
