In the heart of Grand Rapids lies MeXo, a restaurant where the food is made with love and is steeped in old-world tradition. Where all the herbs and seasonings are grown and then ground in-house. Craft cocktails are muddled, mixed, and stirred with the utmost care and precision. This little gem has become one of our office’s and the community’s favorite places to go to experience a special meal!

MeXo’s interior is fully decorated with indigenous artwork from Mexico. When you walk through the doors, you walk into an authentic experience that takes you out of Grand Rapids and into a small pueblo, where the local chef is cooking dinner just for you; nothing leaves the kitchen without his approval! Chef Oscar Moreno’s interpretation of pre-Hispanic cuisine, with a modern touch, will go beyond your expectations of dining. The influence of Mexico doesn’t end or begin with genuine flavors, but extends to all aspects of the dining experience.

Oscar is a NYC caliber chef with an eye for perfection and a need to feed his community with the traditions that he learned from his Grandmother. He is the winner of the , where he competed against a handful of West Michigan’s finest chefs. On a monthly basis, MeXo invites you to learn about the world of tequila, different agaves used, the distillation and production process, and much more. These classes, which make for the perfect date night or evening spent with friends, includes Mezcal tastings, Mezcal cocktails, and small bites!

MeXo’s cuisine brings a modern touch to the classic pre-Hispanic cuisine of Mexico.

*They now serve their very own single barrel

We promise you, you have never seen a more organized, fastidious clean, and inspiring kitchen than the one at MeXo!  Behind the scenes, Oscar and his team grind their own corn to make their fresh tortillas. As for their ground spices, they do their own grinding in house so they can ensure the spices you receive have the best possible flavor.
