Eagle Trail

Forming a loop around Gator Lake in Grassy Waters Preserve, the Eagle Trail tunnels through a tropical hammock to provide overlooks across the wet prairies of the Loxahatchee Slough and across the Lake. This short loop provides access to a pier for anglers and several excellent locations for birding. The Eagle Trail starts at a pier and picnic tables on the north side of Gator Lake, entering a narrow passage through a tropical hardwood hammock with myrsine, wild coffee, and cocoplum. The trail ascends a boardwalk through sawgrass on the edge of the Loxahatchee Slough before it begins looping around the south side of the lake.

Apoxee Wilderness Trail

In the wet prairies and tropical hammocks of Apoxee Park, the first urban wilderness area in Palm Beach County, you’ll walk over and through the water supply of West Palm Beach. A fascinating 4.7-mile day hike showcasing the sheet flow of water through habitats that thrive in humidity and dampness, the Apoxee Wilderness Trail features a mix of boardwalks, crushed limestone, and natural surfaces underfoot on a loop that includes a section of the Owahee Trail, a lengthy berm that runs through all of Grassy Waters Preserve.

Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge

At the edge of Boynton Beach, where historic farmlands have given way to subdivisions over the last decade, Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is a buffer between development and the Everglades river of grass, sliced and diced into canals and impoundments that prevent flooding of nearby suburbia while providing vast marshlands for waterfowl to roam.

Bethedsa-By-The-Sea

Surrounding Bethedsa-by-the-Sea, which is a historic Palm Beach church, are colorful plantings of unusual tropical plants like the big leafed sea grape, it's a great place to go on a short hike.

J.W. Corbett

J.W. Corbett is a hidden gem, a huge hidden gem, in Palm Beach County. It has everything from wetlands to vast prairies, enormous trees, and landscapes that seem to go on forever. Painted with colorful wildflowers in every season, it echoes the beauty of its bigger cousin, Big Cypress, including a notable cypress strand called Hole-in-the-Wall.

Frenchman's Forest Natural Area

Frenchman's Forest Natural Area is a 158-acre protected area of pine flatwoods, strand swamp, scrubby flatwoods, hydric hammock tidal swamp and wet flatwoods in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It is located at 12201 Prosperity Farms Road. There area has a hiking trails and a boardwalk.
