Rambhai, who joined the board last month, has previously worked at Coventry Building Society, where he was group general counsel and company secretary.
In addition to Newbury, he is currently a non-executive director at several organisations, including the Pension Protection Fund, UCL Hospital and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
He is also a trustee of the charity United Way UK, a network of over 1,800 non-profit fundraising organisations.
Rambhai says: “I’m delighted to be joining the Newbury, with its positive and collegiate people culture. The society’s strong social purpose is consistent with my values and the other organisations with which I am involved.”
“With every decision, I will be keeping the long-term interests of the Society’s members and the communities which it serves at the front of my mind.”
Newbury Building Society chief executive Phillippa Cardno adds: “[Rambhai’s] appointment will further strengthen the board’s expertise with his broad range of experience as a non-executive director in a variety of sectors. I warmly welcome Rambhai and look forward to working with him as we approach a new financial and strategic year at the society.”
