We tend to think of our homes as the place where we lay down our roots and raise our family, as a sanctuary for ourselves and our loved ones.
But what if If we allow our minds to wander a bit and to think of our homes as a place where we bring people together and build community? A place where we break bread, care for our neighbors, and share ideas. A place where we regularly experience the gift of connection.
It could be as simple as inviting friends over for coffee, dinner, or a backyard barbeque. Hosting neighbors who are living by themselves and who may be lonely. Hosting a book club or a meeting for a non-profit that is near and dear to our hearts. Or creating a safe space for the kids in the neighborhood to play.
We live in a messy and divided culture, but building community doesn't need to be complicated or dramatic. We can do it one person and one relationship at a time, and our homes can be a meeting ground for connection and positive change.
