Beginning Sunday, November 22, 2020 through Sunday, December 20, 2020 the  Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach, will host an Art of Bonsai class.  Bonsai is a captivating art-form that combines horticultural techniques and Asian aesthetics in a distinctive way. The art originated within the Chinese empire and was copied and modified by the Japanese to what we know now as Bonsai trees. Literally translated "bon-sai" means "planted in a container".

Morikami Museum offers an assortment of Japanese cultural and art classes taught by experienced instructors. The Bonsai course is an ancient, horticultural practice meaning "a tree in a tray," which creates the illusion of age and maturity of a tree. The bonsai students will learn to artfully trim and train a tree in a container. Morikami Class sessions run from 1 to 2 months each and are purchased as a “session only”, not individual classes. Registration for classes or workshops close by 4:00pm the day before the 1st class. For those happening on the weekend they close the Friday prior by 2:00pm.
