The State of Florida only has a few remaining Dog Friendly Beaches in the entire state and the Town of Jupiter is proud to have one of them.  The town adopted the policy to allow dogs to roam on the beach in 1989. Since then, the stretch of sand where dogs are permitted has grown to 2.5 miles long.

The Dog Friendly Beach area stretches from Carlin Park at Beach Marker #57 to Marcinski Road at Beach Marker #25. In this designated area, dogs are allowed to roam freely while being supervised by their owners.

In order to keep Jupiter a dog friendly area, the town has a set of rules, they wish everyone would follow when bringing your dog to the beach.

Dog-Friendly Beach Area Rules:

  • Only behaved, obedient, well-socialized dogs should be brought to the beach – since dogs are not required to be leased.
  • Be a responsible dog owner – the town asks that the dog be always supervised during your beach visit.
  • Obey the Town’s leash laws – dogs should be leased walking to and from the beach.
  • Dog owners should be conscientious of others are the beach – since dogs are allowed on the beach, the beach is open to everyone.
  • Leave no trace – the Friends of Jupiter Beach have set up clean up stations at every beach crossover to ensure that our beautiful beaches remain clean.

Parking is free along A1A or the public parking lots located at Carlin Park or Marcinski Road. The beach is open every day from sunrise to sunset.

Tips for Caring for your Dog at the Beach:

  • Give your dog a shady spot and plenty of water. Don’t let your dog drink the salt water.
  • Dogs do get sunburn, especially those with shorter hair, pink skin, and white hair. Limit your dog’s exposure to the sun.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to hot sand or asphalt – which can burn the dog’s paws.
  • Dogs are an easy target for sea lice and jellyfish. Check for daily water conditions.
  • Always keep a look out for your dog.
  • If you dog does decide to go for a swim in the ocean, its important to rinse the dog off at the end of the day to protect your dog’s skin and hair.
  • Never leave your dog unattended in the water.
