The inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th presint of the United States at noon on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, will mark the commencement of the four-year term of Joe Biden as president and Kamala Harris as vice president and Southeast Florida is prepared. The outgoing president's term ends at noon local time on the 20th. Biden is expected to take the oath of office at noon Eastern time. The oath of office is as follows: 

The theme of this year's inauguration is "America United".  This has been an issue which has been a central focus for Biden but one that has taken on increased significance in the wake of the violence at the U.S. Capitol earlier this month. The Presidential Inaugural Committee stated that the idea "reflects the beginning of a new national journey that restores the soul of America, brings the country together, and creates a path to a brighter future.”

President Donald Trump declared in early January that he intends to skip Biden's inauguration.

Traditionally, the incoming and outgoing presidents ride to the U.S. Capitol together on Inauguration Day for the ceremony. It is a visible indication of the smooth change of leadership. Vice President Pence will attend President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.
