Dane County home prices rose in May for two out of our three measures. Here's our full report on the Dane County single family home market for the month of May 2025. All data is sourced directly from the South Central Wisconsin MLS. 

Dane County home prices

Three price statistics:

• The price per square foot grew from $244 in May of 2024 to $249 in May of 2025, an increase of 2 percent.
• The average price grew from $548,560 to $577,108, an increase of 5 percent.
• The median price dipped slightly from $475,126 to $475,000, down by a small fraction (note the median price dipped by 1 percent each in April and March).

We do see signs that the growth in Dane County home prices may be moderating. The rest of our report provides some good insight into all of the latest local market trends. 

New listings

New MLS listings dropped from 655 in May of 2024 to 606 in May of 2025, a decrease of 7%. The 606 single family homes listed for sale in May was the lowest for any month of May in the last 15 years. 

Accepted offers

A total 498 Dane County homes went under contract in the month of May, down 7 percent from 533 accepted offers in May of 2024. This was the lowest total for any month of May since 2011.
