Virtual Palm Beach International Boat Show

The 35th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show, but not in the way Palm Beach residents are used to.

Because of the coronavirus, the actual show scheduled this past March was canceled by the show owner, the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, Inc. and the producers, Informa Markets, for the safety and wellbeing of staff, exhibitors, partners, attendees and members.

This week on Thursday, May 14, guests are invited to tour the Palm Beach International Boat show, including many of the event’s superyachts virtually.

Because Palm Beach County safe harbor marinas, local law enforcement boats, towing boats, marine exhibitors, and area boaters plan to sound their boat horns for 30 seconds at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Area residents and those who want to watch and listen from the downtown seawall at the public marina will be provided blow horns, while supplies last, and participating in-water boats will be located between the Palm Harbor Marina and the downtown docks along Flagler Drive.

Online, of course “touring” superyachts will make a big splash with viewers; but they will also be able to take part in all kinds of video walk-throughs, as well as educational videos and web-seminars led by industry experts, including the youth fishing clinics by Hook The Future and IGFA School of Sportfishing seminars.

According to the Palm Beach Post, some of the largest yachts participating are the 242-foot PLVS VLTRA by AMELS, the 235-foot SOLO by Tankoa, and the 238-foot Quantum of Solace by Turquoise Yachts.
