UK Finance director of mortgages Charles Roe will be stepping down from his role on 31 March to take on a portfolio of non-executive appointments.
Roe has led the mortgages function since the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
Since joining UK Finance, Roe has led its response to a number of issues including the building safety and cladding crisis and the implementation of Covid-19 mortgage payment holidays.
He also led the developing the Homes for Ukraine scheme and the mortgage sector’s response to cost of living challenges.
In the interim, Karina Hutchins, acting director of mortgages, will assume day to day responsibility for the team, supported by Ronnell Reffell, acting principal, and the mortgages team.
Commenting on his departure, Roe says: “It has been a privilege to lead our mortgages work at a time of significant change for the market. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, and I’m grateful to colleagues, members, associate members and partners for their support.”
“I’m looking forward to taking on a number of non-executive roles, and I will remain a strong advocate for a well-functioning mortgage market that supports consumers and the wider economy.”
