1. Understand the Requirements:

  • Age & Residency: Must be at least 19 years old and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Educational Requirements: Completion of the pre-licensing education course is mandatory.
  • English Language Proficiency Requirement (ELPR): All licensing candidates must meet the ELPR. This requirement is crucial as contracts and standard forms in BC are in English, and effective communication skills are essential for delivering high-quality services. Although you can begin your studies without meeting the ELPR, it is recommended to start this process early and allow at least two months before registering for the final exam. Satisfying the ELPR prior to course registration is strongly advised. More details on the ELPR can be found here.
2. Educational Courses:

If you obtained your criminal record check from your local police or RCMP detachment, upload a copy of the document during the submission process. The original criminal record check does not need to be sent to BCFSA’s office.

If you have a criminal record or charges to disclose, include a statement explaining the circumstances of any convictions or charges, along with copies of sentencing documents. For more information on the criminal record check requirements, visit the BCFSA website.
