The CLC conveyancing practice says it has met the training standard requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and has begun recruiting trainee solicitors who have completed their LPC courses.

The specialist law firm, which has offices in Newport and Swansea, is currently recruiting five conveyancing trainees a month and has been for the last 18 months, leading to a doubling in the size of the company over the period.

It says almost three-quarters of the 60-strong conveyancing team have been trained internally over the past decade and are being, or have been, supported financially through to their chosen professional qualifications.

The practice, led by managing director Lloyd Davies, says its conveyancing training protocol allows trainees to become fully effective conveyancers within 12 to 18 months, with continuous training available to qualification as licensed conveyancers, Cilex-regulated conveyancers, and now solicitors, over the training programme, which takes two to three years.

It adds that transparent salary and bonus structures mean that trainee conveyancers are rewarded, with young conveyancers able to earn up to £30,000 within the first 12 to 18 months of their time at the business.

Convey Law training principal and legal director Laura Burkinshaw says: “Our CLC status has been something of a barrier for LPC graduates in the past, with these young professionals naturally wanting to qualify as solicitors.

“Solicitor trainees follow much the same training programme as those who have not completed their LPC courses. Our training programme is very robust and allows our young conveyancers to become highly proficient within a very short space of time.

“We fully fund the academic courses required to qualify as Cilex practitioners or solicitors and we all commit to a training pathway, protocol and contract over a two-to-three-year period to professional qualification.”
