The move sees the firm become a recommended insurance broker for the trade body’s members, providing professional indemnity cover.

UKGlobal director Tim Grant says: “We have taken the time to get to know CoPSO well and understand how members work and run their businesses. Our specialist professional risks team provides insurance solutions for a wide range of traditional and emerging professional businesses, including run off cover where applicable. We are delighted to be able to work with members to seek to negotiate a more competitive professional indemnity deal.”

CoPSO chairman James Sherwood-Rogers adds: “We are pleased to welcome UKGlobal as a Partner member of CoPSO following the introduction of their bespoke professional indemnity policy for CoPSO members, which also meets all the requirements of the search code. Members had the opportunity to speak to Tim at the recent CoPSO Conference where they were kind enough to be our headline sponsor”.

In May, UKGlobal was acquired by rival Aston Lark for an undisclosed sum, which is in turn part of the Howden Group. Parent firm Howden, founded in 1994, places over £6bn of business a year on behalf of more than 1.7 million clients, employing over 5,000 staff in 160 locations across the UK and Ireland.

CoPSO members provide a broad range of property search reports including local, environmental, mining, chancel repair, drainage and water data, undertaking over two million searches a year.

Members aligned to the trade body, formed in 2003, produce 80% of the private sector searches produced in the market by volume.

UKGlobal is the third new partner member of CoPSO alongside Stewart Title and Thirdfort.
