John D MacArthur Beach State Park - Northern Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County is home to the John D MacArthur Beach State Park, the only state park located within the county.  The park was established in 1989 and its purpose is to protect Florida’s southeast coast.

The park is located in North Palm Beach and is situated between the Lake Worth Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The park is home to more than seven species of plants, more than 22 species of animal’s roam throughout the park and features more than 438 acres of natural environment.

An Estuary is located within the northern section of the park and features an Anastacia Limestone Rock Reef that was formed more than 125,00 years ago. The reef is mostly made of limestone and is one of Palm Beach County’s best snorkeling spots.

The State Park offers a gift shop, a Nature and Welcome Center, Nature Trails, kayak rentals, picnic pavilions, a playground, Munyon Island, one of the largest wading bird rookeries in South Florida, an Estuary, and Maritime Hammocks.  Maritime Hammocks, which is an Indian word for “shady place” are located within the park behind beach dunes and large tropical palm trees that provides a habitat or rare or endangered native tropical and coastal plant species.

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is located at 10900 Jack Nicklaus Drive in North Palm Beach.
