Handelsbanken has strengthened its development team with the appointment of Petar Novakovic as broker liaison manager in the UK.  

The lender, which has over 100 branches across Britain, says Novakovic was formerly a mortgage account manager in its intermediaries team. 

He brings over 13 years’ experience in banking and mortgages to his new post, having previously worked as a private banking manager, mortgage broker and underwriter. 

The lender, founded in Sweden in 1871, has been a fully-licenced UK bank since 2018. Its offer includes mortgages and business finance, wealth management and current accounts. 

Handelsbanken national head of intermediary business Steve Macdonald says: “Petar has previously been a mortgage broker and so has the ability to see the intermediary market from that perspective.  

“This – coupled with a great track record of delivery in the residential broker market as a private banking manager and as a specialist mortgage account manager for Handelsbanken – makes him a fantastic addition to our business development offering.” 

Novakovic adds: “I am really looking forward to collaborating with our broker network – both existing and new – as well as supporting our branch network in writing mortgage business.”
