The wait is over, baseball is back. The Major League Baseball’s 2020 Season is having its Opening Day this Thursday, July 23rd.

For Opening Day baseball fans get to see the 2019 World Series Champions Washington Nationals host the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. The remaining MLB teams will also start the 2020 Season this Thursday.

The Washington Nationals come to Palm Beach County every year for their Spring Training games at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. The Houston Astros also use the same field for Spring Training. In Jupiter, the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is home to the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training games.

The Baseball season will be shorter this year due to a late start and teams will play 60 games in 66 days.

Details about the season:

  • Fans are not allowed at stadiums. Games will be televised.
  • Teams will play games in their division and interleague based on regional division opponents.
  • Postseason play will not be any different then it was last year. There will be three-division-winners and two-wild-cards per league.
  • To start the season, the team’s roasters will be expanded to 30 active players, then 28 players after two weeks and 26 players after four weeks.
  • To prevent injuries to pitchers, the designated hitter will be universal.
  • To prevent marathon games, if a game goes into extra innings, runners will be placed on second base

Other notable Baseball events happening this year:

  • The MLB trade deadline is August 31st.
  • The Chicago White Sox will play the St. Louis Cardinals in Iowa at the “Field of Dreams” ballfield on August 13th.
