The Mortgage Mum has launched a new educational YouTube series called On the Ladder.
The series aims to tackle to widening disconnect between lender innovation and first-time buyer understanding.
It kicks off on Monday 24 November at 10am.
The launch follows renewed government focus on housing accessibility, SME housebuilder support, planning reform, and financial education.
The Mortgage Mum says recent research suggests eight in 10 university students believe homeownership is completely out of reach.
This is despite lenders increasing their focus on accessibility through 100% mortgages, family-assisted products, affordability model updates, schemes such as Deposit Unlock and Own New, and new-build incentives.
Episode topics will include, deposit routes and low deposit schemes, 100% and family supported mortgages, new-build incentives and lender-led affordability boosts, the legal process explains and tips for negotiating.
Commenting on the launch, The Mortgage Mum founder Sarah Tucker says: “Lenders have innovated significantly over the last 18 months, but the average first-time buyer has no idea these solutions exist.”
“I see this every week — whether I’m speaking on ITV’s This Morning, advising policymakers at Downing Street, or talking to customers. The message people hear is that buying is impossible. The reality is more nuanced, and this series is designed to bring clarity back into the conversation.”
“Consumers are getting their information from headlines, soundbites and social media.”
“As an industry, we have a responsibility to communicate clearly. This series brings the right voices into the room — advisers, lenders, estate agents, solicitors — and speaks in a way the public can actually understand.”
