What You Should Know about Traveling in the Palm Beaches

While visitors from highly-infected states like New York and New Jersey are still encouraged to stay out of Palm Beach County, healthy individuals are now allowed to visit the sunny Palm Beaches. Here is what you need to know if you are traveling to Palm Beach County during the coronavirus pandemic.

Hotels are Open

From beachfront resorts to well-known brands along I-95 to quiet boutiques, experience legendary hospitality throughout in The Palm Beaches. Hotels may have individual guidelines for stays, please first check with them. Find your place to stay.

Head for the Beaches

Nearly 30 tropical beach parks span 47 miles along the Atlantic Ocean, Palm Beach County-owned beaches have guidelines for enjoying the beach, please make sure to follow them. Airport, Attractions, and Restaurants

Palm Beach International Airport remains open for travel. However, airlines have reduced service. It’s okay to wear face coverings at TSA security checkpoints; keep in mind TSA could ask you to remove coverings to confirm your identity. Various attractions remain closed. However, in Phase 1 of Florida’s reopening, some have reopened. Museums are welcomed to be at 50% capacity levels. Shopping venues are also limited to 50% occupancy levels. Restaurants are open for seating, takeout, and delivery.  Indoor seating is at 50% capacity and social distancing requirements. Many restaurants have expanded their outdoor seating, keep in mind social distancing arrangements must be followed outside as well. Bars, nightclubs, and pubs remain closed for now. Local Directive to Wear Facial Covers

The County Government asks when you visit public places and social distancing recommendations can’t be readily followed, to please wear facial coverings as defined by the CDC.

Boating, Golf, Parks, and More Are Open

The Palm Beaches are renowned for beautiful waterways. From Lake Worth Lagoon to the Intracoastal Waterway to Lake Okeechobee. And yes, you can enjoy our waters with some guidelines. Recreational charter boats, drift fishing, dive boats, marinas, boat docks, boat ramps, and other launching venues are open. Single riders only on rented personal watercraft. Discover partners with various boating charters, outfitters, and dive operators, we recommend you contact them for more information on availability.

There are some limitations on boat and party size: 25-foot or less (max of 6 persons, 4 adult & 2 children under 17); 26 to 36-foot (max of 8 people, 6 adults, 2 children under 17); 37 to 60-ft (max of 10 persons, 8 adults, 2 children under 17); 60-ft and larger (max of 10 passengers plus crew). However, please no beaching, landing, anchoring, or moorings at sandbars, islands, and open shorelines.

With more 160 public and private courses, The Palm Beaches are Florida’s Golf Capital. The courses are open, they are following some official guidelines: walking and single-rider golf carts; locker rooms closed except for restroom use; limited warm-ups on driving ranges; and congregating after play is not allowed. The Palm Beach County park system is renowned and award-winning, while the county’s 31,000 acres of Natural Areas protect native habitats and the Florida Everglades. They provide places to kayak, canoe, bike, hike, equestrian, and running. At this time, picnic tables remain closed. One of the best things to do during this time is to enjoy nature, explore our parks and natural areas from sunrise to sunset.

Limited play at outdoor tennis and request sports facilities is being allowed. Public and privately-owned community pools are also open.
