The city of West Palm Beach is continuing their holiday traditions this year and the holiday season has kicked off this week with a giant sand delivery. Wednesday, 17 truckloads of sand rolled into downtown West Palm Beach to start the construction of Sandi the holiday tree.

Sandi is the only waterfront tree made entirely from sand and will stand at 35 feet tall.  An additional 35 tons of sand will be brought in to create the surrounding sculptures and to help with this year’s theme. The theme for 2020 is Hope and the tree hopes to bring hope for the holidays.

Sculptors are expected to arrive on site next week to start the construction of the 35-foot tree and is aiming to be finished in time for Thanksgiving. The city is planning on continuing their famous Holiday in Paradise events along with the Sandi Tree Lighting ceremony and nightly light shows starting on Saturday, December 5th.

The light shows will run daily between 6 pm and 10 pm throughout the rest of December. A special extended show will run until midnight on the final night, New Year’s Eve.
