Halifax has launched an energy saving tool to identify home improvements and help boost Energy Performance Certificate ratings.

The lender says its Home Energy Saving Tool, developed with not-for-profit group the Energy Saving Trust, offers advice that ranges from better insulation to the benefits of solar panels.

It shows by how much these changes could reduce energy bills and how much money homeowners could save over the long term.

The tool is on the Halifax Intermediaries website and requires users to answer several questions about their property.

The lender says brokers can use the tool in conversations with customers, or they can send it to their clients via a link.

Head of Halifax Intermediaries & Scottish Widows Bank Amanda Fenner says: “With energy prices rising at such a rapid rate, lots of people will be looking at what improvements they can make to offset the increasing costs of keeping their home warm.

“Brokers can now use the Home Energy Savings Tool to give homeowners a tailored picture of the improvements they can make, and which of them will be the most cost effective.”
