What led you to where you are today?
In 2022, I was fortunate to be recruited as Executive Assistant to Principal Broker Ryan MacLaughlin and Broker-In-Charge, Alex Cortez. My professional background in hospitality management, marketing, and operations made me a great candidate to provide high-level administrative support for Island Sotheby's International Realty leadership. I was born and raised here in Maui; however, I have lived in Southern California for the last decade, where I served as the Director of Operations for a workforce housing non-profit. My time on the mainland strengthened my skills in asset management, brand management, and new business development; however, my goal was always to return home and put down roots. I am grateful to have found a great fit at Island Sotheby's International Realty. Day-to-day, I love using my eye for aesthetics, digital marketing, and organizational skills to provide service as elevated as our client's standards.
What's your favorite part about living in Maui and why?
I love how life on Maui celebrates diversity, whether in our island's many microclimates, varying temperatures, and range of landscapes or diversity of our cultures, people, food, and music. Our communities' diversity and uniqueness keep Maui feeling new and exciting each day despite our island's small size.
What's your favorite part about being a realtor
I was lucky to achieve homeownership early in life compared to some of my peers. I've seen firsthand the value, stability, and prosperity it has afforded my family and me. As a REALTOR, it's my pleasure to assist others in navigating this process and connecting on a human level with people from many different walks of life.
Why did you choose ISIR?
My former hotel training taught me the value of white glove service and creating an enjoyable experience for clients with a focus on attention to detail and personalized care. I see these core values reflected in my fellow Island Sotheby's International Realty Agents, who believe it's their kuleana to go above and beyond in each transaction continually. I love the concept that luxury is not a price point. It's the level of service. This is evident in our client testimonials, marketing, and local reputation. Ultimately, the portfolio of listings, brand heritage, and company culture drew me to choose Island Sotheby's International Realty.
Where is one place on the island we can find you on the weekend or in your spare time, and why?
My husband and I spend our spare time in the care and cultivation of our persimmon farm located in the high elevation and cool climate of Kula. This fall will mark our fourth harvest selling seasonal fruits to local chefs and markets. I love chatting with clients about Maui's local flora and fauna and our island's rich agricultural heritage.
What local spot is a "must-visit," and why?
Speaking about family farming on Maui, I highly recommend checking out Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery, owned and operated by my talented cousin, Shay Smith. I previously had the pleasure of working alongside Shay to open the cafe at his distillery, which serves delicious craft cocktails made with their award-winning vodka and fresh ingredients grown on the 80-acre sugarcane farm. It's an exceptional property with panoramic ocean views and great people, making it come to life!
What is your favorite thing about your office's city?
My mother's family originally lived on Keawakapu Beach in the 1960s, so I have a particular affinity and knowledge of Kihei and South Maui as our preferred places for sun and fun. With its crystal-clear waters, diverse marine life, and spectacular scenery, the beaches of Kihei, Wailea, and Makena are world-class. Showing property in South Maui is always a treat, with the steady gaze of Haleakala standing tall behind and the sparkling blue ocean out in front as a daily reminder of how lucky we are to be here.
What should clients know about you?
I come from a long-time Maui family and bring an intimate understanding of the island and its vibrant communities. As a professional, my approach focuses on building trust and rapport with clients, creating a personalized experience, and providing concierge-level service every step of the way.
