E.surv has appointed Steve Goodall as its new managing director, as the UK’s largest residential chartered surveyor continues to manage valuations amid the ongoing pandemic.

Veteran Goodall, joins from rival ULS Technology where he was chief executive, who today also announced its replacement for him.

Goodall has also held the role of managing director of Legal & General Surveying Services.

The technology surveyor says Goodall “will be responsible for leading e.surv through the ongoing pandemic” as it continues “to provide both remote and physical valuations in 2021, while maintaining its commitment to prioritise the safety and welfare of its customers, employees and the wider public”.

The business upgraded its Remote Valuation conveyancing last April, which aims to bridge the gap between remote data and physical inspections.

Goodhall replaces Jane Cross who takes up a new role working on group strategy at its listed parent LSL Property Services.

LSL Group chief executive David Stewart says: ”Jane has done a great job taking e.surv forward over the past year, including successfully leading the business during the unprecedented challenges brought about by the COVID outbreak. I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with her as we take forward the wider group strategy.”

Stewart adds: “At the same time, I’m delighted that we have been able to secure Steve Goodall as her replacement. Steve knows e.surv’s business well and has a proven track record in the sector. I’m sure he will prove to be an outstanding leader for the business and an excellent addition to the LSL senior executive team.”

Goodhall says that he is sure his new e.surv team are “well equipped to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities of the valuation and survey markets head-on”.

Meanwhile, ULS Technology appoints Jesper With-Fogstrup as the new chief executive at the conveyancing technology firm, which was led by Goodall.

With-Fogstrup joins from HSBC, where he was the bank’s global head of digital as a channel.

He has worked in digital businesses for more than 20 years, including a period as chief operating officer at comparison site CompareTheMarket.

With-Fogstrup replaces Goodall who stepped down last September, after three years leading the listed business.

He says technology has “a big role” to play in property valuations.

With-Fogstrup adds: “Elements of the conveyancing journey are currently being done manually, which could be automated. That could make a big difference in speeding up the journey and ensuring everyone are involved and clear on the progress – from the homebuyers and conveyancers to estate agents, lenders and brokers – enjoying a far more satisfying experience.”
