Homebuyers now have zip-code level metrics on average temperature, precipitation, snowfall, humidity and UV index directly on listing pages in an effort to help shoppers understand what it's like living in a neighborhood year-round.

Homebuyers search for more than square footage and price and want to know what it will actually be like to live somewhere, says Ariel Dos Santos, Redfin's Chief Product and Design Officer.

"The Weather Channel data is already relied upon by hundreds of millions of people monthly. By integrating these same trusted, high-precision insights directly into the Redfin experience, we are meeting consumers where they are," said Rohit Agarwal, CEO of the Weather Company.

Weather is now another layer of data homebuyers can use when planning their next move. Other tools offered by Redfin include Sunscore, which is a rating out of 100 of how much sunlight a home receives. They also provide severe weather scores for wildfires, flood, heat, wind and air quality and quality of life metrics like walkability.

The rollout is grounded in consumer research. More than 1 in 5 Americans planning to move out-of-state cited better weather as the most common reason in another Redfin survey. Weather and concern about natural disasters and climate risk beat out affordability, job opportunities and wanting to be closer to family.

Severe weather patterns can put homes at risk. Properties outside of a government-mandated flood insurance zone are exposed to $375 billion to $1 trillion in losses, according to a Moody report. Buyers are more cautious of prices outside of the mortgage payments as insurance can make up upwards of 8.5% of monthly housing hosts.

The weather feature is among a broader push by Rocket Companies to deepen the Redfin platform since the $1.75 billion acquisition of the brokerage in July 2025. But the expansion has caused concern among independent brokers and mortgage professionals about how the deal impacts how consumers search for homes

Rocket and Redfin also offer monetary incentives and search tools for homes that can only be found on their website.
