Last week, Governor DeSantis gave permission for several counties in Florida to begin Phase Two of Reopening Florida. Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Miami-Dade County were not among those listed to begin Phase Two, but were allowed to send a letter to the Governor stating their Phase Two Reopening Plan.

The new Phase Two guidelines took effect Friday, June 5th, 2020 for certain counties. New guidelines include:

  • Restaurants may allow bar-top seating with appropriate social distancing
  • Pubs and Bars may operate at 50% capacity inside and full capacity outside with appropriate social distancing
  • Retail stores may operate at full capacity
  • Gyms and Fitness Centers may operate at full capacity
  • Entertainment houses such as concert houses, auditoriums, movie theaters, playhouses, bowling alleys, and arcades may operate at 50% capacity
  • Personal service businesses such as tattoo parlors, tanning salons, acupuncture establishments and massage establishments may operate while adhering to the Florida Department of Health
  • Pari-mutuel facilities that offer gambling may submit a request to open with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation

On Friday, Palm Beach County Officials asked Governor DeSantis to reconsider and allow Palm Beach County to begin Phase Two with restrictions. The news conference said on Friday that “Palm Beach County is ready for Phase Two”.

Under Palm Beach County Phase Two restrictions, the letter states that “Palm Beach County is not prepared to have standalone bars open just yet”. Only bars inside restaurants would only be allowed to open. Entertainment venues, movie theaters and bowling alleys could reopen according to the plan in the letter sent to the Governor late last week.

Palm Beach County Officials are hoping to hear back from the Governor soon and hope to be included in Phase Two of Reopening Florida.
