In 2017, when I made a career switch from journalism to two part-time positions in real estate marketing with Mad City Dream Homes and communications with a Madison-based environmental nonprofit, I had no idea what to expect. In that time, I have learned so much about these fields of work as well as what I find fulfilling each day. And what fuels me most is finding creative ways to connect with others to help them achieve their goals. Thanks to the support of Dan Miller and this amazing team, I will be able to do more of what I love with people whom I respect.
I am excited to announce that my role is growing on the Mad City Dream Homes team! In November, I will transition to a full-time position as a marketing and community outreach specialist to better utilize my strengths and serve you, our clients, and our communities. My time will be split evenly between our team’s real estate marketing activities and activities that support nonprofit organizations in the Dane County area.
As some of you may already know, Mad City Dream Homes has formed a great partnership over the last three years with the Foundation for Dane County Parks by donating our time, skills, and resources to support the nonprofit in raising money and awareness for our beautiful county parks system. We’ve created newsletters, managed mailing lists, developed social media content, written a grant to launch a new website, and taken photos to help enhance their impact on the community.
My new role will expand this model to more local nonprofits focused on promoting social and racial justice, providing affordable housing, and protecting the environment. Our goal is not only to help build the capacity of the organizations we partner with now, but also to create systems that help them carry out their work for the long-term in a sustainable manner. We want to inspire more for-profit businesses to make a difference in their communities by investing their time and talent in local nonprofits, too. Ultimately, we hope that Madison and the surrounding communities will become healthier and more equitable places to live, work, learn, and recreate.
And we want to hear from you! Is there a local nonprofit that is doing great things in our community but may need an extra boost to better fulfill its mission? We’d love to learn more about why you support that organization or how you think we might be a good fit to collaborate with them -- either through a nonprofit spotlight article on our blog and newsletter, or potentially another type of partnership.
