New analysis from property platform Rightmove, reveals Britain’s seaside towns where prices are rising the fastest.
According to Rightmove, Bootle in Merseyside is seeing the strongest price growth, with average asking prices up 11% compared to last year. With an average price of £141,680
Crosby in Liverpool (+9%) and Penarth in South Glamorgan (+9%) are also among the fastest-growing seaside locations- with average prices of £330,900 and £433,081 respectively.
Other areas are also seeing notable increases, including Llantwit Major in South Glamorgan (+8%) and Llanelli, in Carmarthenshire (+7%), highlighting the continued demand for coastal homes across a range of locations.
This price growth compares to a national average change of -0.3% in asking prices over the last year, highlighting how some seaside locations are outpacing the national trend for price growth. The average price of property coming to market in May this year stands at £378,304.
At the same time, coastal living remains relatively accessible, with nine out of the top ten fastest growing seaside locations are still priced below the national average.
Across more than 100 coastal areas analysed, over 80% also have an average asking price below the national figure (£378,304).
Sandbanks in Poole remains Britain’s most expensive seaside location, with an average asking price of £1,119,945, closely followed by Canford Cliffs in Poole, where the average asking price for a home is £1,045,533.
Commenting, president of NAEA Propertymark Mary-Lou Press said: “What stands out in this data is that many of the fastest-growing seaside markets remain relatively affordable, especially in parts of the North West and Wales. For many buyers, these areas can offer a balance of lifestyle, space and value.”
