Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Andy Dean as its new head of housing & sustainability.

Dean joins from Nationwide Building Society, where he is currently head of intermediary support & new build for the mutual and its buy-to-let arm, The Mortgage Works.

He has been responsible for leading the society’s new-build agenda since 2018, as well as leading its broker support teams, including a large team of business development managers.

Dean has worked for 16 years at the mutual, from 2008, in a variety of roles such as a business development manager and a key account manager.

Prior to that, he worked as a business development manager at Advantage Home Loans for two years starting in 2006.

Dean take up his post at the bank in September and will report directly to its managing director, intermediaries Esther Dijkstra.

His appointment follows the retirement of Andy Mason in April, who left the bank after 30 years.

Dijkstra says: “The intermediary mortgage market is of crucial importance to us, adding Andy’s experience and deep sector knowledge to our team will help us continue to drive developments and initiatives that continue to improve our support customers, brokers and the mortgage market.”

Dean has also served on the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association’s management committee for the past four years.
