The body of Jonathan Bloomer, chair of former Stonebridge owner SDL Group, has been recovered from the sea after the superyacht he was on sank off the coast of Sicily.

The Italian coastguard said Bloomer and his wife Judy were found with three others on the 164ft vessel that went down with tech tycoon Mike Lynch

Lynch, whose body was also recovered, was understood to be celebrating his acquittal from US fraud charges in June.

In total, 15 people were rescued after the yacht Bayesian capsized during a storm on Monday.

One person is still reported missing, understood to be Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

Bloomer had been the chairman of Morgan Stanley International since 2018, and in 2023 was also appointed chairman of the Hiscox international insurance group.

He began his career at US accounting firm Arthur Andersen, working there from 1974 to 1994. Bloomer then spent the next ten years at Prudential, an insurance firm based in the UK, eventually becoming group chief executive until 2005.
