The Residential Property Surveyors Association is moving ahead with a “major” restructuring programme that will see it appoint a dedicated management team.

It says that it as enjoyed membership growth of 25 per cent over the Spring and Summer against a background of building survey instruction activity increasing by over 100 per cent.

The RPSA says that it will now become the “primary” home for residential property surveyors in England and Wales.

The association has, up until now, been managed by Thornby Associations director Mike Ockenden, who says: “Of course, we are sad to be ending our day-to-day relationship with RPSA, but it is for the right reasons, facilitating the growth of the association, and enabling us to target resources to the other organisations we represent.

“We are proud to have been part of the RPSA story and will maintain strong links that will benefit all parties.”

RPSA chairman Alan Milstein says, meanwhile: “The world of residential surveying is going through a period of sustained growth and development and so now is the right time for the RPSA to step centre-stage and to assume the role of industry voice and leader.

“With new systems and focused management we can build on the firm foundations laid over the last 10 years and create a truly representative professional Association.

“The RPSA has always been run for its members by its members, and with the ambition of raising the quality bar of surveyors across the industry.

“Nothing changes. As a not-for-profit organisation our job is to deliver money, resources and great products straight back into the hands of our members. We won’t have fancy London offices or armies of administrators, but we will have a twenty-first century management, an IT structure to deliver skills and efficiencies, and a thriving high quality survey instruction panel.”
